Tinh Then

Tinh Then is a musical instrument of stringed family of plucking branch of the Tay ethnic group.

The neck of the instrument is made of softwood, 75-90 cm in length and has no fret. Its resonator is made from half of a rose-shaped hollowed dry gourd, 15-20 cm in diameter.

The keyboard is made of soft wood to be attached to the resonator. The Tinh Then has 3 silk or nylon strings. The sound is low, soft, dolce and warm. The Tinh Then is used to perform as solo or ensemble and accompany singing in Then rituals.
