The phong yeu drum is of the percussion instruments of Việt people. Apart from the name of phong yeu, it has another name “tam bong”.

The phong yeu drum is a double-headed drum covered with leather with the diameter of about 15 cm (the smaller head) and 20 cm (the larger head). Two heads are stretched with rattan strings.

The drumframe is made of hard wood about 45 cm high. It is tied in the middle, which divides it into two parts: one globe-shaped part and one funnel-mouth-shaped part.

The sound of the phong yêu drum is sometimes deep and high when people clap on two heads.

The phong yeu drum is played in nhã nhạc court-music orchestra.

Performance pose: The performer sits and folds their legs on the mat. The drum is put horizontally and the performer claps it with two of his hands.
