Orchestra for Cheo (Viet Ethnic group)

Cheo is a particular folk form of the Viet ethnic group in the northern delta.

Five important parts in Cheo include Tro cheo (Cheo amusement), hat cheo (Cheo singing), nhac cheo (Cheo music), mua cheo (Cheo dancing) and dien cheo (Cheo performing). Cheo orchestra plays an important role in performing and singing of the actors and actresses.

Therefore, the component of musical instruments in the orchestra is quite various. The orchestra includes percussions and string and bamboo instruments Ti truc as follows: Percussion includes De drum, Rice drum, Ban drum, Boc drum, big drum, temple block mo, cymbals, bell, tiu (a musical instrument in the form of an overturned bowl), canh (a small gong without knob), cymbals nao bat, coin clappers sinh tien; string and bamboo instrument includes two-stringed fiddle Nhi, cello, moon-shaped lute Nguyet, three-string lute Tam, monochord Bau, 36-stringed zither tam thap luc, vertical bamboo flute tieu, flute. Depending on the play story to use different musical instruments.
