Beethoven music to resound at Hanoi Opera House

The Youth Orchestra of the Vietnam National Academy of Music will play under the baton of German conductor Christian Schumann.

Masterpieces by German composer Ludwig van Beethoven will be played by the Youth Orchestra of the Vietnam National Academy of Music at the Hanoi Opera House on July 2.

The concert which will be conducted by Christian Schumann will also see the performance of pianist Hinrich Alpers.

The orchestra will play the Coriolanus Overture, Op.62 and Piano Concerto No. 5 by Beethoven as well as Symphony in D minor by  French composer César Franck.

Christian Schumann was born in Freiburg, Germany to Hungarian parents and had his first piano lessons at the age of six. At 27 years of age, Christian Schumann is considered one of Germany’s rising young stars. Immediately upon completing his studies at Franz Liszt Conservatory, he obtained a position at the Theatre St.

Gallen, and debuted in March of this year at the Bavarian State Opera. In addition, he has already led such internationally renowned orchestras as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the London Philharmonic Orchestra . He is appearing for the second time as guest conductor for the Youth Orchestra of the Vietnam National Academy of Music in Vietnam.

Hinrich Alpers won the famous International Telekom Beethoven Competition, which instantly catapulted him into the circle of sought-after concert pianists in the great music centers of the world.

Hinrich Alpers’ rousing and expressive yet subtle performances of classic works have impressed the public at the world’s most famous stages including New York City’s Carnegie Hall and the Berlin Philharmonic. He also captivates his listeners at premiere performances of works by famous contemporary composers.

The Youth Orchestra of the Vietnam National Academy of Music consists of over 70 young lecturers and exceptional students from the Academy.
